This impressive medieval fotress is the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe. Its oldest part dating back to the early 12th century. Visit the castle and learn about its rich and fascinating royal history. You can get married at Hammershus Ruins and enjoy a wonderful outdoor wedding with panoraimic views of the historic land and Baltic Sea.

Located in Osterlars near Gudhjem in the centre of Bornholm, the Medieval Centre (or ’Middelaldercenter’ as its known locally) gives you a living, sensory experience by letting you see, smell and touch medieval scenes involving people, animals, houses, a watermill and a fortified rampart. This interactive approach makes it a great place for children who can learn through play by trying on foot soldiers uniforms and shooting a bow and arrow. As well as hearing a canon and harquebus being fired.

The outdoorsy nature of Bornholm Island make it a great place to visit with your pet. Us Danes are a dog loving nation and love nothing better than to meet any four-legged members of your family.
