What is the process of working with you to plan our Danish island elopement?
Here are the general steps if you want to marry abroad:
- Discussions: After you have submitted your online inquiry, we will be in touch to offer a consultation call for us to better understand your requirements and how we can help.
- Accept proposal / offer: After we’ve had our call, sent you our proposal and you’ve accepted it, the planning process can begin!
- Planning: We will work with you closely at every step of the process to help you with arranging the logistics of getting married abroad.
- Come to Bornholm: When your special day finally draws closer, it will be time to travel to Bornholm and live out your adventure!
Can we bring guests?
Absolutely yes! We love planning microweddings and seeing you celebrate with your family and friends. Typically, a small intimate wedding is up to 20 guests, but if you have more than that, just let us know and we will accommodate your needs!
Do I need to bring witnesses for the wedding ceremony?
You are welcome to use your own suppliers, we will be more than happy to adjust our packages to allow for that.
Actually, no. Elopements where just the two of you go abroad to get married are really popular and we offer elopement packages for this reason exactly! Couples love to just have an adventure where only they are present for their wedding, it’s a way to combine travel and the celebration of your love! That’s why we don’t require you to bring witnesses. If you are eloping to marry abroad, we will provide you with witnesses.
Can we use suppliers that we find ourselves, or do we have to use the ones you suggest?
What if we want to add something that is not included in the package?
As expert destination wedding planners, we have worked with couples from all over the world. So, if you want to expand your elopement or microwedding package, we offer some popular additional services. In the case you have something more specific in mind, please let us know and we will do our absolute best to customize your wedding according to your wishes and vision.
How do we plan decoration and the style of the wedding?
The truth is, most of the venues do not need decorations as the surrounding nature is so breathtaking. For beach weddings and forest weddings, couples like to add some classic decorations like a wedding arch that we offer as an additional service. However, if you have something in mind, please let us know and we will be more than happy to make it happen for you!
What is the most popular wedding venue on the island?
Couples from all over the world come to Bornholm to marry abroad, thus all of our available venues are quite popular! Our wedding venues are carefully selected so that you can find something you like! We offer a wide range of locations and wedding packages so that your wedding abroad can fit to your style as a couple. From yacht weddings to medieval-style viking-themed weddings and romantic all-inclusive beach hotel stays to outdoor weddings in the forest or by the sea cliffs, we can make your vision come true as your dedicated destination wedding planners.
Do you work during the off season?
Yes! We believe that you should be able to elope and marry abroad or have your microwedding at any time during the year! In fact, winter weddings are common, as are early spring and fall weddings. From November - March you can get a good discount for off season wedding and if you have any questions or ideas for your off peak wedding, please let us know!
Legal requirements
Can I just go abroad and get married?
Are weddings in Bornholm legally binding?
Yes. The weddings that we performed in Bornholm are all civil weddings and are legally binding. No matter where you decide to have your wedding, an authorized civil servant will come to do the ceremony and as a result you will receive the official paperwork and marriage license that is recognized worldwide.
Is it easy to get married in Denmark legally?
Yes, the marriage certificate you will receive after your ceremony in Bornholm is recognized all over the world. However, some countries require the extra step of ‘legalization,’ prior to the certificate getting recognized. If you know you will need this, or are not sure, just let us know as legalization is a complimentary service included in our wedding packages!
Definitely. Denmark is by far the easiest country for foreign couples to get married in all of Europe. In fact, thousands of international couples come yearly to get married. If you didn’t know already, a LOT of foreign couples make the decision to travel to Denmark to get married each year.
Is the Danish marriage certificate recognized worldwide?
Do I need to register my marriage in the country of my residence if I get married abroad?
Yes, you do. Upon returning to your country of residence, you should take your Danish marriage certificate to your local registry office for them to register it.
Date change & cancellation
What is your date changing policy?
In case you want to change the wedding date you book, we will do our best to accommodate you as we understand that sometimes things may change. However, keep in mind that our ability to change the date for you depends on vendors and also our availability on that new date.
What is your cancellation policy?
Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t go as planned, so we must have a cancellation policy in place to define our terms for cancellation:
If you cancel:
You may cancel your agreement, in writing, at any time and for any reason.
Canceling more than 120 days prior to the confirmed event date: You are entitled to a full refund, except for any non-refundable deposits.
Canceling less than 90 days prior to the confirmed event date: You are entitled to a fifty percent (50%) refund, except for any non-refundable deposits.
Canceling less than 60 days prior to the confirmed event date: You are not entitled to a refund.
Please keep in mind that the booking fee is non-refundable.
If we cancel:
Please keep in mind that we will never cancel your wedding.
In the event that we cannot be the ones organizing it, we will find a replacement immediately as we have many partners which we will share with you through writing for your approval.
Payment procedure
What methods of payment do you accept?
You can pay by international bank transfer, or online with the card. We accept credit and debit cards through a third-party payment platform Stripe.
What is the payment schedule for your services?
The booking fee (deposit) for securing your wedding date is EUR 900, which is charged due to signing the wedding services agreement. The remainder of the balance is paid in two instalments: one instalment 4 months before the wedding date and the remaining balance 2 months before your wedding.
