micro wedding
where to say "i do"
mysterious island
if you’re currently planning your small or elopement wedding, we hope this will be helpful to you.
We’d love to show you how your dream of an island wedding abroad can easily be turned into a fun, affordable and beautiful reality.
2. Tie the knot (literally) and have a handfasting ceremony. There’s a saying ‘When in Rome do as the Romans do’ well ‘When in Denmark do as the Vikings do’. Traditional handfasting ceremonies add something really interesting and personal to your wedding. Incorporate it into your ceremony or go all out with a Viking themed wedding.
3. Choose a truly unique and iconic location – look at our amazing venues on Bornholm island for the inspiration.
4. Keep the wedding traditions you like and bin the ones you don’t. Eat cake, throw your bouquet, have your confetti moment and enjoy a first dance by candlelight or don’t! The best thing about small and elopement weddings is that you get to make and break the rules. So have fun with it!
5. Live stream or record your ceremony. This covers off any guilt you may be feeling about not included extended family and friends.
6. Think about your outfit. Elopers tend to be outdoor adventurers so chances are you are not going to wear an especially fussy dress or suit for your wedding. So, think about how you can accessories your look. A statement floral headband, or bold waistcoat, themed socks, a denim or biker jacket, pink Dr Marten boots or a faux fur shrug. When it comes to accessories, be formal or be casual but always find something that is unapologetically you!
7. Don’t skimp on having quality wedding photos. At Scandinavian Saga, all of our wedding packages include one of our talented adventure photographers, there to capture your day precisely as you want it. Our fun and friendly photographers also serve as a useful guide and will stop at nothing to get the best images that tell the story of your wedding adventure.
8. Hire a musician to serenade you to ensure you get your romantic first dance. Many people think that live music is only for larger celebrations but why should you miss out on hearing your song sang or played to you on your wedding day.
9. Food and drink plays a huge role in your celebration. If you want your wedding to be special, definitely incorporate some yummy elements into your day.
10. Hire a wedding planner. Especially if you’re having your micro wedding or elopement in another country. Your wedding planner will sort out all of your legal paperwork, plan your perfect wedding and be there on the day to ensure it runs smoothly. Allowing you to fully relax and enjoy every moment of your wedding in the knowledge that your wedding is in safe and experienced hands.
